Dry dashing (pebble dashing)

Pebble Dashing and Dry Dashing is a traditional method of finishing a rendered external substrate.

The shingle or spar leaves a very durable surface that stands up well against the harsh elements of the British weather.

Shingle aggregates that come in a variety of different colours and textures from brown-golden corn shingle to many different coloured spars.

There is always a colour to suit the surrounding area and the meet the clients preference

This Pebble Dashing and Dry Dashing was carried out by Grants plastering ltd, the previous plasterers had messed it up and Grants plastering ltd was called in to take over and doing it again.

I applied a new scratch coat and then proceeded with the dashing to this small extension.

The spar used is called Per-Gold.

This bungalow in Dartford, Kent was in need of a new Pebble Dashing and Dry Dashing as the old one had faded in colour.

With render features like render bands and render plinths along with the new black and white spar this make over gave the bungalow a great new look.

The existing Pebble Dashing and Dry Dashing to the small extension had failed because of application error from the previous plasterers.

Grants plastering ltd removed the blown pebble dash and replaced it with a new Canterbury spar which looks delightful in the sunshine.

The existing pebble dash had begun to break down at the lower section of the walls due to frost and penetrating rain.

Grants plastering removed the blown defected pebble dash and replaced it with a new finish.

The last two photos shows the pebble dash completely cured and dried out.
